Privacy

Tracks your work, not you.

Private isn’t a mode here — it’s the model. Four promises, built in:

  • Your location never leaves your iPhone.

    Workplaces power the automations — detection runs entirely on-device. No location upload, no movement profile for anyone else.

  • The server can’t read your data.

    Optional sync is end-to-end encrypted — the server only ever stores ciphertext.

  • No account needed.

    Eigenzeit works without signing up and without identifying yourself.

  • Delete means delete.

    Export it, take it with you, or erase it — when you delete, the data is gone. Locally and, if you used sync, on the server.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Can my employer see what I track?

No — technically impossible. Eigenzeit is made for the person doing the work, not their employer. Your data sits encrypted on your iPhone; there is no boss dashboard, no ranking, and no third-party access — not even for us.

What does “Eigenzeit” mean?

Eigenzeit is German for time seen from your own perspective. The app records work — as balance, evidence, and tax groundwork — so the rest of your time truly stays yours. In short: record work, protect your time.

How much battery does it use?

Very little. Location and motion detection use iOS’s low-power system APIs (geofencing, the motion coprocessor) rather than continuous GPS.

What permissions does Eigenzeit need?

Location “Always” for automatic detection, and optionally motion and notifications. Everything is optional — the app also works fully manually. Every automatic action is shown and can be undone.

What does Eigenzeit cost?

Not finalised yet. Join the waitlist — no obligation — and you’ll be among the first to know.

Is there an Android version?

Not at launch. Eigenzeit relies on deeply iOS-specific features like Live Activity and the Dynamic Island. An Android version isn’t ruled out, but isn’t planned.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Times, projects, and reports as CSV and PDF — any time, at no extra cost. Your records, your export, your call.

Do I need an account?

No. Eigenzeit works without registration. Optional sync between your devices is end-to-end encrypted — the server can’t read your content.

How accurate is automatic detection?

It learns your workplaces via geofences and suggests starts, breaks, and endings. Automatic, but never hidden: every action is visible and corrected with a tap.

Does it help with breaks and working-hours limits?

Eigenzeit shows gentle notes on breaks and long days and keeps your balance in view. It’s a personal tool and doesn’t replace legal advice.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Delete means delete. Local data is removed; if you used sync, the encrypted server data is permanently deleted too.
